Why Do the Wrong People Travel

Personally I’ve yet to find that longitude and latitude / can educate those scores of monumental bores / Who travel in groups and herds and troupes / Of varying breeds and sexes / Till the whole world reels to shouts and squeals.

I agree Sir Noel.  But I include myself among them.  When there are this many tourists on the ground you have to wonder, “what compulsion compels them and who the hell tells them” to drag their cans to the grand bazaars and seafront stalls that line the shores of Sliema?

Which is a long-winded way of saying we went from the rather placid and pleasant Gozo to the rather Miami-ish and peripatetic bustle of Sliema, across the harbour from Valletta, where half of western Europe is enjoying a pint.

Fast ferry stop at St. Paul’s Bay, en route to Sliema

Nothing much to post today: We had a lovely breakfast, we checked-out of the Duke and took a lovely Bolt to the fast ferry, it was a lovely crossing to Sliema, then walked about 70m to our lovely hotel, which has a stunning harbour view and lovely amenities.

Hey: Eat a muffin already

So travel days (the packing, the travelling, the unpacking) take up a lot of time. Not much to post today. But Sliema is really like Vancouver, in that various cities are nestled around a harbour, and with that similarity, harbour cities on deltas and peninsulas, Sliema is to Valletta what North Van is to Vancouver city, far away by land, close by water. And since there’s not much to post today I’m going to throw in a few gorgeous shots our friend Ian took when in Vancouver a while back. He takes the most AMAZING photos and although he posts them “naked” without all the wit, wisdom and exceptionally well-curated quotes you get here (at HereHare) the quality is well, how can I put it? Much better?  Yes. Like Marks & Spencer cashews (selected for size and quality–it says so right on the package). On a serious note, it’s really worth checking out his Facebook page; link here.

The author of Here Hare has traveled to over 45 countries on six continents, and has lived in Canada, the UK and Australia.
